Monaco are pushing Everton to sign Folarin Balogun despite the striker failing his Toffees medical.
Balogun is Everton’s key attacking target on deadline day and, with the player wanting the move and terms agreed with Monaco, the deal looked to be all but done.
The Toffees moved to put Balogun through what they hoped would be a routine medical, but that turned out not to be the case.

An issue came up in the checks which caused Balogun to fail his medical, pushing the deal into a state of collapse.
For Everton, the development is far from ideal because they have now sold Beto to Italian Serie A club Fiorentina.
Everton are still looking at whether they can sign Balogun and, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Monaco are pushing them to do so.
Monaco want the deal for Balogun to go through and are hoping it can still happen despite the issue.

It is unclear what the medical issue is that has been found and how confident Everton are about proceeding anyway.
If the Toffees pull the plug then David Moyes could be left with a shortage of attacking options until the January transfer window at least.
Moyes could try to explore the free agent market, however the jury is out on whether he would find a striker he feels is as suitable as Balogun.
Balogun caught the eye with his performances for the United States earlier this summer and Moyes was hopeful of seeing him take the Premier League by storm.
With Richarlison also not moving to the Hill Dickinson, Everton are in a tough spot, even though they have just asked about Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee.
If Everton can get Zirkzee late on, it could well allow them to pull out of the Balogun deal.
