FC Barcelona had made several signings throughout the summer to significantly strengthen their team for the 2026-27 season. The Blaugranes brought in the likes of Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi, Jesse Bisiwu, Rodri Hernandez, Joao Cancelo, and Dominik Livakovic.
However, even with these signings, the Catalans had been unable to fill in a key gap in their team, i.e., that of a center-forward, as both Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres had left the club this summer.
But now, on the deadline day of the transfer market, Barcelona have also brought in a player for this position, as [Mundo Deportivo](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20260901/1004222085/oficial-gabriel-jesus-firma-barca-2029.html) reports they have officially announced the signing of the Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal for €10 million.
The forward has signed a three-year contract with the Blaugrana club, after having arrived in the Catalan city yesterday to undergo his medical tests. He also watched his new team enjoy a win over Rayo Vallecano at the Spotify Camp Nou last night.
Today, the player arrived at the club facilities and signed his new contract in president Joan Laporta’s office. Rafa Yuste, Deco, Bojan Krkic, and Jesus’ agents were also present at the event.
Only a few days ago, it seemed unlikely that Barcelona would sign a forward other than Julian Alvarez, who remained their preferred candidate for the center-forward position for the entirety of the market. However, the Blaugranes moved quickly, and completed a surprise move for the Arsenal forward, and its news emerged only on Sunday.
Although there have been doubts about Gabriel Jesus, [mainly because of his injury history](https://barcanewsnetwork.com/barcelona-stance-on-gabriel-jesus-physical-condition-revealed/) and his lack of prominence at Arsenal, the player himself assured the fans that he is fully fit. Now it is up to Hansi Flick to use him to his advantage, and there is no doubt that the Brazilian forward can contribute a lot with his skills and experience.
