Liverpool have agreed to sign 18-year-old striker Djylian N’Guessan from Saint-Etienne - but not until his contract expires at the end of the season.
N'Guessan will spend this campaign on loan at Ligue 1 side Brest with the Reds keen for him to gain further top-flight experience.
That, though, will be a temporary move from Saint-Etienne rather than Liverpool, with the Anfield side having filled their full allocation of foreign loan slots with Harvey Elliott's season-long switch to Spanish outfit Valencia.
N'Guessan will then sign a pre-contract agreement with Liverpool in January and complete his transfer to the Reds next summer.
Liverpool have swooped for N'Guessan having been impressed by his performances for France in the UEFA Under-17 European Championships last summer, during which he was named in the team of the tournament.
N'Guessan - who is the son of former Lincoln City and Leicester City forward Dany - also featured for the French side that finished third in the U20 World Cup later in the year.
He was handed his professional debut for Saint-Etienne in January 2025 aged just 16 in Ligue 1 and made eight appearances in the competition before relegation. N'Guessan featured only three times in Ligue 2 last season but did score his first senior goal in the Coupe de France.
