‘Here we go’ – Fabrizio Romano confirms €55m Liverpool transfer target will join Chelsea

Liverpool knew they wouldn’t be active in the transfer market heading into deadline day, at least in terms of adding players to their current squad.

A deal to sign young goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans has been officially announced, while Djylian N’Guessan is also close to agreeing a deal to move to Anfield in the summer of 2027.

However, in terms of first-team recruitment for Andoni Iraola, Bradley Barcola was viewed as their last summer signing, barring a late surprise.

However, a few days before the deadline, it was reported that Lamine Camara was one to watch for Liverpool as they remain on the lookout for market opportunities.

And now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that he is joining Chelsea after the Blues struck a deal with Monaco.

He wrote on X: “EXCLUSIVE: Chelsea agree deal in principle to sign Lamine Camara from AS Monaco, here we go!

“Fee worth €55m and authorization to travel for medical. Initial agreement done now running in order to complete medical and formal steps in time.”

Camara recently played at Anfield in pre-season and has developed into quite the player. Liverpool could do well with another defensive-minded midfielder in their squad, so the 22-year-old seemed like an obvious fit.

However, he will now be moving to Stamford Bridge to line up alongside Moises Caicedo, a player Liverpool fans know too well after that transfer saga almost three years ago.
