FC Barcelona have had a very busy 2026 summer transfer window as they made several new signings to strengthen their squad for the 2026-27 season. In fact, their work was not even complete as the transfer market reached its deadline day.
On this final day of the transfer market, the Catalans completed their last signing of the summer, i.e., the forward Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal. The Blaugranes wrapped up his signing with a lightning-fast operation to ensure they do not have to go into the new season without a natural first-team center-forward.
As [Mundo Deportivo](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20260901/1004222121/gabriel-jesus-no-me-ofende-plan-b-julian.html) has reported, [the Brazilian’s signing was officially completed today](https://barcanewsnetwork.com/official-barcelona-complete-e10m-signing-of-gabriel-jesus-from-arsenal/), as he signed a three-year contract at president Joan Laporta’s office. After that, he was presented as a new Barcelona player. The player also had the opportunity to express himself at such a meaningful event in his career.
One of the most notable points of his speech was him accepting that he was not the first-choice target for Barcelona for the center-forward position, but this did not bother the player too much:
“**This doesn’t bother me; it doesn’t offend me. What offends me is when people tell me I’m a bad person. No one has ever told me that in my life.**”
The Brazilian also highlighted how he could have been at the Blaugrana club a decade earlier:
“**This doesn’t bother me. What bothers me is not playing football. I have the opportunity to be here at Barça. I had that opportunity 10 years ago, but life took me down a different path.**”
Following this move, Jesus was now looking to give his all to ensure this move ends as a success for both himself and the club:
“**But now I’m here and I always want to do my best. I’m someone who works very hard, and hard work always pays off. I’m not interested in what people say outside. I have God, my wife and my children.**”
Although a surprise, there is no doubt that Gabriel Jesus’ signing could turn out to pay great dividends for Barcelona. They have made a €10 million investment to get a highly experienced and proven center-forward, and now it remains for the player to prove that they made the right choice to bet on him.
