Manchester City spent big this summer as they completed several high-profile signings in the transfer window

Manchester City didn't hold back in the summer transfer window, splashing a whopping £454.2m on transfer fees.
The Blues' most expensive signing was confirmed on deadline day as they paid £125m for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez. City had initially been quoted £120m for the Argentina international. However, the London club raised their asking price after City did not bid before an unofficial deadline in mid-August.
City also spent £60m, which could rise to £65m, on Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye. The 26-year-old arrived to replace Omar Marmoush who joined Tottenham Hotspur on loan earlier in the window.
Those two late purchases came after City had already spent significant money revamping their squad. Elliot Anderson was the Blues' first major signing of the summer having agreed to move to City during the World Cup. He was followed by Ayyoub Bouaddi who joined from Lille for £85m.
Some of City's Premier League rivals also spent big this summer. Tottenham surpassed a £386m spend as they look to return to Europe next season. Chelsea ended up spending £280.8m after a deal for Lamine Camara fell through.
Liverpool, who made PSG forward Bradley Barcola their landmark signing at a cost of £123m, spent £247.5m in total. That was less than Aston Villa and Newcastle who spent £290.8m and £273.7m respectively.
Compared to their biggest Premier League title challengers Arsenal, City have spent a whopping £260m more. Despite aiming to retain their title, Mikel Arteta's side have been more conservative with their summer business. The Gunners spent £75m on Newcastle's Bruno Guimaraes and a further £55m on Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa.
Across the city, Manchester United spent the least out of the traditional 'Big Six' clubs. They spent £152m in the summer transfer window.
Now the window has closed, City can still sign players but only those that are available as free agents. The transfer window will reopen again on January 1, 2027.
