Chelsea player spotted at Glasgow Airport ahead of Celtic transfer, star exits Hoops, new bid…

A Chelsea striker arrived in Glasgow on Tuesday night after completing a medical ahead of joining Celtic.

The Premiership champions face two competing deadlines to end their summer business. Their Europa League squad must be submitted by the end of day on Wednesday - where they also host Aberdeen in the Premiership - while the transfer window for Scottish clubs shuts at 5pm a day later.

Boss Martin O’Neill is still seeking reinforcements and Sky Sports have captured Chelsea forward Shim Mheuka arriving into Glasgow Airport late on Tuesday after a medical in London. He is now set to sign on loan for Celtic but whether or not he debuts for his loan side against Aberdeen remains to be seen.

Who have Celtic made a transfer bid for?

Meanwhile, Celtic have launched a bid for Feyenoord’s Jordan Lotomba. O’Neill is in the market for a right-back after an injury to Alistair Johnston with Colby Donovan and Anthony Ralston remaining as back-ups. It’s added by Sky: “Celtic have made a bid for Feyenoord right-back Jordan Lotomba.

“The Hoops are in the market for a right-back to cover for the injured Alistair Johnston, who is out until the end of October. Lotomba, 28, is a Swiss international and has one year left on his Feyenoord contract. The Scottish transfer deadline is at 5pm on Thursday, but Celtic would need to sign players before 11pm on Wednesday, to register them for the Europa League.”

One star who has left Celtic is Reo Hatate. The Japanese player arrived in the Ange Postecoglou era and was a fan favourite alongside fellow countryman Daizen Maeda and Kyogo during their time at the club. He now heads for a new challenge in the English Championship at Burnley.

Why has Reo Hatate left Celtic?

He said: "This is a great move for me. It's my first time playing in England and it's a fantastic club to be joining. I'm hoping to bring my experience and knowledge to the dressing room and help the team on the pitch as much as possible to achieve our aim."

Burnley’s statement adds: “Burnley Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Japan international and five-time Premiership winner Reo Hatate, who joins the Clarets in a permanent move from Celtic for an undisclosed fee. The central-midfielder has penned a three-year deal at Turf Moor and arrives in Lancashire with a wealth of experience, having played over 190 games for the Premiership champions over the last five years.”
