Arsenal welcomed five new signings this summer and waved goodbye to nine senior players. But there is still one deal left to be completed despite the transfer window closing in England.
The Gunners entered the summer as Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years, intending to consolidate a squad ready to defend their title. And that is exactly what they did, spending a total of £201.5million.
Incomings were not the only focus, either, as some big-name players left and roughly £60.9m was earned from sales. Other narratives also enshrouded their transfer window, with a high-profile, failed attempt to sign Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior and Julian Alvarez being courted to no avail.

The Gunners' first market move this summer was to secure the future of a familiar face. Piero Hincapie arrived in N7 last season from Bayer Leverkusen and played a pivotal role in the club's title win and journey to the Champions League final.
He started 20 Premier League games, but was only on an initial loan. His transfer was made permanent in June for £37.5m. The free-agent acquisition of goalkeeper Illan Meslier came next, as in July, he was snapped up after his contract with Leeds United expired.

Christos Tzolis became the third arrival later in July and the £34m former Club Brugge man has looked the part so far. He registered two assists in Arsenal's 3-0 Community Shield victory over Manchester City and started the wins against Coventry City and Aston Villa to begin the top-flight term.
The Gunners made a splash with their next summer signing. Bruno Guimaraes joined from Newcastle for £75m and immediately added quality and a different dynamic to Arteta's midfield.
Ezri Konsa was the final arrival before the deadline. He made a £55m move from Villa in August and was given his debut against his former club. He adds further depth to an already exceptional Arsenal defence. Several other academy signings were completed in the window to boot.

Nine outgoings
A total of nine senior players departed Emirates Stadium this summer, but that number will increase to 10 once Gabriel Martinelli completes his £55.7m exit to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
The Brazilian will become Arsenal's most expensive-ever departure and the reason he has not yet sealed the move is that the Saudi Arabian Football Federation has set a domestic deadline of September 6. FIFA's official calendar also has the window listed until October 12, so there is plenty of time to get this over the line.

In terms of confirmed exits, goalkeeper Karl Hein was the first to leave, joining Werder Bremen for £2.5m. Leandro Trossard left for Besiktas in July for £17m. Then, Jakub Kiwior headed to Porto for £14.7m and in August, Christian Norgaard departed for Everton in a £7m deal. Reiss Nelson's contract was terminated last week, making him a free agent.
On deadline day, Gabriel Jesus joined Barcelona for £12m and Ethan Nwaneri left for Borussia Dortmund on loan. Fabio Vieira completed a permanent switch to Hamburger SV for £7.7m and a handful of academy stars, as well as goalkeeper Tommy Setford, departed on loan deals.
