**Liverpool legend and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has aired his frustration at the Reds’ summer transfer business, feeling the squad is imbalanced.**
The summer transfer window is now officially closed, meaning Andoni Iraola has to make do with what he has until at least January.
There has been a general feeling of frustration among Liverpool fans about the business that has been conducted, with no right-back or midfielder brought in.
Speaking to [_Sky Sports_](https://www.skysports.com/football/live-blog/11095/13025501/liverpool-transfer-news-rumours-and-gossip-live-updates-and-latest-on-deals-signings-loans-and-contracts?postid=12354673#liveblog-body), Carragher discussed his bemusement at the Reds’ recruitment team’s approach to transfers, with no proper right winger in the squad.
_“I’m disappointed. I’m not quite sure what we’re going to do on that right wing right now. It doesn’t look a balanced squad. Liverpool are short in full-back areas and probably a midfield player as well._
_“I sit there scratching my head and thinking, ‘We’ve got four left wingers; we haven’t got one right winger.’ Something like that just doesn’t feel right to me._
_“Liverpool won the league just over a year ago. We spent an awful lot of money since then and I don’t think anybody inside Liverpool or Liverpool supporters really believe we can win the league this season, or the manager’s got the tools to go and win the league this season, and that just doesn’t feel right.”_
**Liverpool’s summer transfer business is head-scratching**

Carragher is spot on in his assessment of Liverpool’s summer, with no natural replacement for Mohamed Salah signed, and other key areas of the pitch not strengthened.
Then there are various left-sided options, including Bradley Barcola, Cody Gakpo and Rio Ngumpha, and it all leaves you scratching your head in frustration.
Only time will tell if Liverpool will pay the price for their summer business, but Iraola hasn’t been helped at all by departed sporting director Richard Hughes, who leaves as a much-criticised figure.
Hopefully, Iraola has it all planned, getting a balance out of the options available to him, but it feels entirely predictable that certain players may have to be played out of position.
Dominik Szoboszlai stands out in that respect, with the Hungarian potentially being used at right-back and on the right wing, although that would at least mean moving him from the deeper central midfield role he is struggling in so far this season.
