It’s been a summer of change for Liverpool as an eventful transfer window finally slammed shut.
Arne Slot was replaced by Andoni Iraola at the helm and a handful of key players and leaders like Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, Ibrahima Konate and Curtis Jones left the club.
The Reds have made good signings and that goes without saying, but their squad also looks short in certain areas, proving that the transfer window was certainly a mixed bag.
A surprise deal for Lucca Brughmans was completed on deadline day as Liverpool moved quickly to sign the goalkeeper and loan him back to Genk for the current season.
And the young Belgian’s arrival is proof that the Reds are preparing for life without Alisson Becker.
Alisson Becker set to leave Liverpool in 2027
The Brazilian international’s contract expires next summer. Even during the recently concluded summer transfer window, there were talks that he could leave, with Juventus pursuing his signature.
However, the Reds stood their ground and decided against offloading him as he is one of the leaders of the squad and still a top-class goalkeeper in his own right.
However, an excerpt from The Athletic’s new piece claims that Liverpool got a deal done for Brughmans with one eye on Alisson’s future, who is set to leave in 2027.

Granted, he could still renew his deal and remain at the club, but that hasn’t been the case so far as Liverpool have not offered him a new contract.
The same is also true for Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk as he enters the final few months of his current deal.
Watching van Dijk and Alisson depart in the same summer will be almost as painful as Jurgen Klopp leaving, and we’re certainly not ready for it.
