Lamine Camara has been told he will secure a major transfer 'very soon' amid links to Liverpool. Chelsea were left furious on deadline day after a £47.1million deal to sign Camara from Monaco collapsed just before the deadline.

The 22-year-old had completed a medical as Chelsea looked to secure a replacement for Enzo Fernandez, whose move to Manchester City for a joint-British record £125m was sanctioned several hours earlier. However, the Ligue 1 club reneged on their commitment and informed Chelsea they were backing out of the move after the transfer deadline passed.

And amid the fallout from the deal collapsing, talkSPORT reported that Liverpool told Camara 'to wait' and that a deal to sign him next summer was possible.

And in an update on Wednesday, AS Monaco sporting director Thiago Scuro revealed Camara had asked to leave the club, but added that he had since spoken to the midfielder and reassured him that he would secure a major transfer 'very soon' and could have 'even better options than he did yesterday'.

He said: "To talk about Lamine, we have been approached by several clubs during the summer, the message has been always the same: It is our priority that he stays.

"Even yesterday after training, we had a conversation with Lamine directly which was very OK and friendly, where he also showed the desire to stay and that he was happy at the club.

"Chelsea was always testing and trying, 'what about Lamine, what about Lamine'. I have ben talking to them for the last ten days.

"Around 4pm yesterday we got a contact from Chelsea: 'OK, we have sold a player from this position, deal done, is there any possibility that Monaco is open to selling Lamine?'

"The answer was the same, 'no, it's not'. At this moment at 4pm, Balo was in Liverpool doing his medicals, everything was going pretty well."
