Ethan Nwaneri has embarked on another loan spell away from Arsenal after securing a late move to Borussia Dortmund, with the Germans assuring him that he would get sufficient game time.
All summer, Nwaneri had been one of their transfer targets, but Arsenal were reluctant to let him leave the Emirates, while BVB could not guarantee that he would play regularly. That initially made a move difficult, despite the German side’s interest in the youngster.
Dortmund increase their interest
However, after Giannis Konstantelias suffered a serious knee injury that could potentially see him miss the rest of the season, BVB pushed to sign Nwaneri. The situation created more space within their squad and increased the need for another attacking option.
There should now be enough room for Nwaneri to play at the German club, who have committed to giving him sufficient game time during his loan spell. The opportunity should allow the Arsenal youngster to gain valuable experience while continuing his development away from the Gunners.
Arsenal have only allowed Nwaneri to join Dortmund on loan because of their playing style, as well as the assurance that he would receive game time with the German side. The Gunners believe the move can benefit the player while ensuring that he continues to develop in an environment that suits his qualities.

Arsenal retain control
The men at the Emirates believe in Nwaneri, and they know they might need him during the second half of the season. That is why they have included a recall clause in the agreement, as reported by The Sun.
The clause could allow Arsenal to recall Nwaneri if he performs well and the Gunners need him, giving them the flexibility to bring him back during the campaign. It could also protect Arsenal if Dortmund fail to keep their word and do not give the youngster enough opportunities to play.
For Nwaneri, the move provides another chance to gain regular minutes and continue his development. For Arsenal, the recall clause ensures they retain an option to bring him back if circumstances change, while Dortmund have committed to providing the game time that was central to the agreement.
