The Premier League deadline may have passed, but Liverpool could still complete five transfers before their summer business concludes

The Premier League transfer window is shut, but Liverpool's summer activity isn't necessarily complete. A late surge of deals at Anfield saw Bradley Barcola arrive for £123million, while Lucca Brughmans completed a £30m deadline day switch, though he'll remain at Genk for the remainder of this campaign.
All told, Liverpool recorded the highest net expenditure of any side in England's top tier this summer. The Reds finished £219m in deficit, more than any other Premier League club, after splashing out heavily while generating minimal income through departures.
Lewis Koumas
Lewis Koumas sits near the top of Liverpool's current crop of emerging talent and caught the eye during an encouraging pre-season spell. All signs suggest he's done enough to earn a spot in the first-team squad this term but a loan away could still work out best for all parties in the long term.
Koumas, 20, came off the bench for a 12-minute cameo in the draw against Newcastle before he was an unused substitute against Nottingham Forest. Barcola's arrival only serves to further restrict opportunities for those on the fringes of the left wing.
A Championship loan could have been the perfect solution for the 12-cap Wales international, while the Scottish Premiership and Belgium's Pro League shut up shop tomorrow (Sept. 3). The Eredivisie transfer window closes at midnight tonight, while the windows in Turkey (Friday) and Portugal (Sept. 15) offer more time.
Harvey Davies
With Alisson and Giorgi Mamardashvili both remaining at Anfield this summer, the pathway to the No. 1 shirt appears congested for Harvey Davies. Freddie Woodman also penned a fresh contract this summer, while Vitezslav Jaros' presence probably means four goalkeepers sit above Davies in the hierarchy.
Reports earlier this summer suggested there are intentions to extend Davies' own deal, which is set to run out next summer. Those same reports indicated the 22-year-old, who has been at the club since 2011, would be retained as cover until January before another assessment is made regarding his future.
Those arrangements could yet be brought forward, however, in order to afford the youngster a much-needed opportunity at senior football. His possibilities are wide open, with transfer windows in Belgium, Austria, Hungary and Scotland shutting tomorrow, while those in nations like Croatia (Sept. 7) and Greece (Sept. 15) have additional time remaining.
Federico Chiesa

Despite appearing one of the most probable exits at the beginning of the summer, Federico Chiesa remains a Liverpool player. The Euro 2020 champion has been persistently linked with a return to Serie A for months now, but wishes to compete for his position under Andoni Iraola.
Chiesa's adaptability across the forward line does provide value, with the player delivering some decisive moments in red. However, the acquisition of Barcola only makes it even less likely for him to anticipate significant game time.
"Federico is not thinking about leaving Liverpool," Chiesa's father, Enrico, told 365Scores. "Chiesa is very happy at Anfield and feels extremely good within the club. As for renewing the contract, his first desire is to continue and stay with Liverpool."
The Serie A transfer deadline has now passed, ruling out any return to Italy for the former Juventus star. That said, Turkey's Super Lig remains active until Friday evening, while one of Portugal's heavyweights could still make a move right up until the evening of September 15.
Jayden Danns
Jayden Danns' injury setbacks over the past year or so have limited his opportunities for any senior involvement at Liverpool. The striker is on the road to recovery again, but is close to full fitness after missing the pre-season preparations.
The case can certainly be made that Danns requires a loan spell away from Anfield as urgently as any other academy prospect. His injury problems threaten to halt his development if he isn't afforded the opportunity to compete at the appropriate standard, and a fresh environment could provide precisely the impetus he needs.
Clubs in any of the previously mentioned second-tier European leagues would welcome an imposing, physical force in attack. And Danns, who appears too talented for under-21 football, could make his way back to Merseyside at some stage in 2027 looking considerably more prepared to establish himself at Anfield.

James McConnell
Iraola is reported to have chosen to retain James McConnell following his eye-catching pre-season performances. And there's every possibility the 21-year-old could emerge as a surprise package this campaign after a planned loan to Preston fell through.
It's feasible, too, given Liverpool's midfield boasts a world-class starting lineup but is short on backup options. The opportunity exists for the youngster to make his mark, though it remains far from certain.
The bleakest outcome in McConnell's situation would be for Liverpool to conclude this campaign with him still unable to accumulate any meaningful playing time. A loan move to Scotland could suit the Newcastle-born talent if a club acts swiftly, while he's unlikely to head back to the Eredivisie following an underwhelming stint at Ajax last season.
