Enzo Fernandez completed a deadline-day transfer from Chelsea to Manchester City for a joint British record fee of £125m, bringing City's midfield overhaul to £326m.
The 25-year-old Argentine midfielder appeared to take a parting shot at his former club, stating he had “always dreamed of playing at a club as big as City”.
Fernandez joined Chelsea for £107m in January 2023 and won the Club World Cup, but actively pushed for a move to the Etihad Stadium after failing to compete for a Premier League title at Stamford Bridge.
The World Cup winner emphasised the high expectations at City, remarking that the club's history demands competing for and winning every available trophy.
The transfer reunites Fernandez with manager Enzo Maresca, who Fernandez thanked for making a significant effort to persuade City's hierarchy to secure the signing.
