Transfer deadline day came and went with Liverpool ending up fairly inactive. That was expected after the Reds completed a £123million move for Bradley Barcola less than 24 hours earlier.
Liverpool did get one deal over the line, agreeing to sign Genk goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans for £30million. The 18-year-old will, however, remain in Belgium until next summer to continue gaining valuable experience.

Cody Gakpo and Trey Nyoni stayed at Anfield despite late interest from Manchester City and Nottingham Forest, respectively. Harvey Elliott joined Valencia on loan, while Stefan Bajcetic returned to Spain in a permanent move to Celta Vigo.
Although the deadline has passed, Liverpool’s summer business is not necessarily over. Several European leagues, including Scotland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Greece and Austria, remain open and could still see players leave Anfield.
Liverpool are also yet to confirm the signing of French teenager Djylian N’Guessan from Saint-Etienne. It was announced on deadline day that the Reds had secured a deal for the highly rated prospect.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Djylian N’Guessan’s move to Liverpool took anything but the standard route. The Frenchman is not yet officially a Liverpool player and will sign a pre-contract agreement with the Reds in January before moving to Anfield next summer.
N’Guessan will spend the season on loan at Brest in Ligue 1. Liverpool could not arrange the loan themselves because Elliott’s move to Valencia used their final foreign loan allocation.
Instead, N’Guessan will remain a Saint-Etienne player until January, when he will sign his pre-contract with Liverpool.
N’Guessan’s contract expires in 12 months. The 18-year-old is a product of the Saint-Etienne academy and played for the club’s U17s at just 14.
He made his professional debut in January 2025, aged 16, in Ligue 1. N’Guessan has since made eight Ligue 1 appearances and featured three times in Ligue 2 last season, while also scoring his first senior goal in the Coupe de France.
