Liverpool‘s Harvey Elliott has completed a loan move to Valencia on deadline day.
Last season, the Premier League side sent him on loan to Aston Villa where he struggled for a prominent role.
Since returning to Anfield, he had no major role at Liverpool and had several options to pick from. Valencia won the battle in the end because of the 23-year-old’s firm desire to join them.
The La Liga side are paying part of his wages. The Reds reportedly had offers from other unnamed clubs that wanted to take him on loan and cover his full salary.
Liverpool player’s role in Elliott’s transfer
Harvey Elliott now confirms to Valencia’s official channels of holding talks with Liverpool goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili before joining Valencia. El Desmarque have relayed his comments.
The Georgia international spent four years at Mestalla before moving to Anfield in 2025. He trained alongside the 23-year-old in his first pre-season with the Merseyside club and also this summer.
Mamardashvili has played a role in helping his former club sign the Liverpool man.
On the chat with the stopper, he said: “Giorgi told me the fans are incredible. When things aren’t going well, they support you and are with you until the end. And when you win and play well, they’re the best fans you could have.”
“He also told me the city is amazing. We talked a little, although I didn’t want to ask too many questions so as not to give away what was going on. But Giorgi spoke very highly of the city and, above all, of the club. I’m very excited and eager to experience it for myself.”
Manager also convinced Liverpool man
Valencia manager Carlos Corberán is another key figure in Harvey Elliott’s loan move to Spain.
“We spoke on the phone a few days ago. He was very happy about the possibility of this opportunity becoming a reality, and for me, it was also a great opportunity to come here and play,” Elliott explained.
“We talked at length about what he expected of me. I think we’re going to have a very good relationship. I hope that, as a team, we can take a step forward and have a very good season.”
