How does the Women’s Champions League draw work?
The competition is entering its second season using an 18-team league phase rather than the traditional group stage.
The clubs are divided into three pots of six according to their UEFA club coefficient, with holders Barcelona placed first in Pot 1. (UEFA regulations)
Each team is drawn against:
two clubs from Pot 1
two clubs from Pot 2
two clubs from Pot 3
For each pot, Arsenal will play one opponent at home and one away.
That gives Slegers’ side six league-phase fixtures in total.
UEFA’s regulations also state that teams from the same association cannot normally face each other at this stage, meaning Arsenal should not be drawn against Manchester City.
Who could Arsenal Women face?
Nine teams qualified automatically for the league phase.
UEFA currently lists:
Arsenal
Manchester City
Barcelona
Bayern Munich
OL Lyonnes
Paris FC
Roma
Benfica
Häcken
The remaining nine places come from the third qualifying round.
The final seedings and complete pots will be confirmed before Friday’s draw.
Barcelona enter as defending champions and the leading seed in Pot 1.
Arsenal therefore face the possibility of another demanding European schedule alongside their WSL title challenge.
Read Arsenal has already examined why Arsenal Women’s extensive summer rebuild has raised expectations for 2026/27, while the club are also closing in on France defender Elisa De Almeida after agreeing terms over a move from Paris Saint-Germain.

4 10/11 November
