While AS Monaco did not want Lamine Camara to join Chelsea in the end, the midfielder was always keen to move to Stamford Bridge.

Camara decided to join Chelsea, who had an agreement in place with Monaco at one stage on deadline day.

However, after it looked like Folarin Balogun would be heading to Everton, Monaco decided to pull the plug on Camara’s switch to west London.

Lamine Camara was looking forward to working with Xabi Alonso

One reason why Camara was so eager to join Chelsea was because of Xabi Alonso.

According to TEAMtalk, Camara was excited about the prospect of working under Alonso after speaking to the Chelsea manager.

The 22-year-old could have learned a lot from Alonso, who was one of the best midfielders in the game during his playing days.

Unfortunately for Camara, who is also a midfielder, Monaco have denied him a dream move to Chelsea.

The Blues could always make a fresh move for Camara in January, but they could face competition from Liverpool for Camara’s signature.

Why Chelsea shouldn’t make another move for Lamine Camara next year

It would be understandable if Chelsea went back in for Camara. He is a talented midfielder who can make tackles and pass the ball.

As per WhoScored, the Senegal international made 2.3 tackles and 1.5 key passes per game in Ligue 1 last season.

After everything that has happened with Monaco, though, Chelsea should refrain from doing business with them in the future.

Their conduct was completely unprofessional and could now have serious ramifications for Chelsea in the first part of this season.

Of course, the Chelsea board should not have left things that late when they had a feeling that Enzo Fernandez would be off. But they still have every right to be furious with Monaco and should now consider adding the French club to a blacklist if they have not already.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea’s relationship with Monaco is broken.
