English defender Ezra Carrington joined Everton’s Under-21 squad on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract at Manchester City.
Ezra Carrington (born December 16, 2005) is a 20-year-old right-back from Manchester. Registered with the Manchester City Academy at age 11, he progressed through the ranks to the Under-18 and Under-21 sides. He had agreed a short-term, 1-year deal with Everton U21s.
The youngster has been training with Dave Hughes’s side for the past 4 weeks and will now link up with the squad to play in Premier League 2 and other competitions this season.
A dynamic, attacking right-back noted for his athletic range, overlapping runs, and strong passing delivery from wide positions, Carrington cited Kyle Walker as his main positional inspiration during his youth development at City. He has represented England at the Under-19 level.
Carrington’s promising trajectory at Man City was disrupted by a major anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) knee injury, resulting in very little match time over the prior two seasons before he was released.
He comes in primarily to bolster Dave Hughes’s U21 squad depth at full-back, with the 1-year contract serving as a "prove-it" deal for Carrington to demonstrate full recovery and rebuild his match fitness.

If there's one member of our executive team who seems to be doing his job, it's Nick Cox, who is rebuilding our academy from the ground up.

Mike, if this nob Cox is doing such a good job with the academy, why are we so berift of academy stars in the first team. The academy is not fit for it's job, which is providing for the first team, and you know it. Stop painting roses over a pile of dog shit. we are a shit show.
