The summer transfer window has closed, giving Liverpool time to reflect on another chaotic few months in the market.
The Reds completed four signings, mainly strengthening their defence and attack. However, Andoni Iraola’s squad still has clear weaknesses that could need addressing when the January transfer window opens.

Elsewhere, Birmingham City have confirmed the signing of former Liverpool forward Liam Millar on a season-long loan from Hull City.
The 26-year-old will add depth to Chris Davies’ attacking options after playing a key role in Hull’s promotion to the Premier League last season, registering three goals and five assists in 38 appearances.
Millar has also started the new campaign strongly, featuring in Hull’s opening-day win over Manchester United before scoring the winner against Coventry City last weekend.
The Canada international has earned 44 caps and featured three times at this summer’s FIFA World Cup as Canada reached the last 16.
Millar came through the youth systems at Fulham and Liverpool before joining FC Basel in 2017. He later returned to England with Preston North End before joining Hull permanently in 2024.
“Liam is a proven Championship performer who has significant experience at this level,” said Blues boss Chris Davies.
“It was an area of the pitch where we wanted to strengthen, and Liam fits the profile we were looking for. He has shown consistently that he can perform in the Championship and contribute to successful teams, and he also has a wealth of experience from his international career.
“He’s had a really strong start to this season as well, so he comes here in good form and with a real appetite to want to come and play for Birmingham City. We’re delighted to have him on board and are looking forward to working with him.”
Liam Millar joined the Liverpool Academy in 2016, progressing through the U18s and U19s before becoming U23s captain. He made his senior debut in February 2020 as Liverpool beat Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup at Anfield.
He also gained first-team experience during loan spells at Kilmarnock in the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons. Millar captained the U23s during the first half of the 2020/21 campaign before joining Charlton Athletic on loan in January 2021.
He made 27 appearances for the League One side, scoring three goals and providing six assists as they narrowly missed out on the play-offs. In July 2021, Millar completed a permanent move to Swiss club FC Basel.
