Barcelona handed Gavi boost ahead of trip to Valencia

Barcelona midfielder Gavi is expected to hand his team a boost by returning to training on Thursday ahead of the weekend’s trip to Valencia in La Liga.

Gavi was forced off in the first half of Barcelona’s opening game of the season against Elche after suffering a knee problem and hasn’t featured since.

The club have since confirmed that Gavi was only suffering from bruising, allaying fears he may be set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines, and it seems he’s now ready to return.

Gavi has been working individually since but will train with his team-mates on Thursday and could even be in the squad to for the trip to Mestalla, according to Diario Sport.

Given his injury history, Barcelona intend to be cautious with Gavi but will be keen to welcome him back amid of a busy run of fixtures.

Barcelona face Valencia, Levante, Racing and Sevilla in La Liga, and also play Feyenoord in the Champions League, before domestic action pauses for the first international break of the new campaign.
