Liverpool transfer news as Lamine Camara is handed a promise over his future by Monaco, while Cody Gakpo has reportedly held talks with the club after a move to Manchester City fell through

The transfer window may have closed, but there are still plenty of questions surrounding Liverpool and it’s squad.
Andoni Iraola has four new faces in his squad for the 2026/27 season, including Bradley Barcola after his big-money move from Paris Saint-Germain. That pursuit may have come at a cost to other areas though, with fans not too pleased that the midfield and right-back issues haven’t been addressed.
The Reds though may already have one eye on some future business if reports on deadline day are anything to go by, with one potential target looking as though he will be available in just a matter of months.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.
Lamine Camara (Monaco)
Lamine Camara has been told by Monaco that he will secure a major transfer “very soon” amid reports that Liverpool urged the player and the club to wait on deadline day.
Camara had been poised to complete a $64 million move to Chelsea before the window closed, only for the switch to collapse after Monaco pulled out of the deal, much to the Blues’ anger.
Monaco sporting director Thiago Scuro went into detail on the timeline of events during a press conference on Wednesday, and revealed (as per BBC Sport’s Nizaar Kinsella) that he had told Camara he would get his wish after indicating he wanted to leave the club, and that he could have “even better options than he did yesterday”, offering a potential hint to Liverpool’s interest.

Liverpool.com says: It is certainly interesting that Liverpool has supposedly been in contact with both Camara and Monaco, and now the club's chief is hinting that they're happy to wait for a better offer than Chelsea's.
We'll have to wait and see whether it develops into anything in January or next summer, but the wheels are in motion for Camara to move somewhere, and Liverpool should be taking a closer look.
Cody Gakpo (Liverpool)
Cody Gakpo held "clear the air" talks with Liverpool's owners after his proposed move to Manchester City failed to go through, according to Dutch outlet Eindhovens Dagblad.
Gakpo had looked to have been lined up for a $115 million move to the Reds' rivals following the signing of Bradley Barcola before reports indicated that City's offer had been rejected.

With the window now closed, Gakpo is guaranteed to stay at Anfield until at least January, with Tottenham also said to have been willing to meet Liverpool's asking price.
Liverpool.com says: Letting Gakpo go to City would have been a very bad move from Liverpool, and thankfully it didn't happen. Now that he's staying put, hopefully he will get plenty of support from Reds fans.
He has arguably been the standout player so far this season, and at no stage does it seem as though he has been agitating for a move. Whether his long-term future is at Anfield remains to be seen, but for the time being, he deserves to backed.
