In this regard, the Blaugranes have a clear difference from their other contenders for the league title, as Real Madrid have an average age of 25.7 years, while this figure for Atletico Madrid stands at 26.7 years.
In addition to the arrival of youngsters like Bisiwu and Abdelkarim, another factor that has led to this overall decrease in the average age of the Catalan team is the departure of veterans like Robert Lewandowski (38 years) and Marc-Andre ter Stegen (34 years), which have more than offset the impact of new veteran arrivals like Rodri (30 years) and Livakovic (31 years).
However, the positive aspect of this phenomenon for Barcelona is that despite the youth of their team, they still have significant experience of winning the most notable trophies. For instance, despite still being 19 years of age, Lamine Yamal has already won three La Liga titles, and also a UEFA EURO and a World Cup with the Spanish national team.
Thus, Deco deserves a lot of credit for assembling a team that is not only very young, but also one that already has a lot of experience of winning the biggest trophies. Now, the challenge remains for the German coach to add a UEFA Champions League title to the list of achievements of these young Barcelona players.
