The transfer window for major European leagues closed on Tuesday, September 1st, 2026. Les Parisiens made four notable signings: Ferran Torres, Maghnes Akliouche, Mika Godts and Lucas Digne. The European champions got rid of players who were deemed surplus to requirements, such as Bradley Barcola, Gonçalo Ramos, Ibrahim Mbaye, Randal Kolo Muani and Kang-in Lee.
The club spent a total of €152 millions on players and generated €334.30 millions from sales, which meant they had a profit of €182.30 millions. Here at PSG Post, we discuss why the club should not be disappointed with the transfer window that unfolded.
How PSG had one of the best summer tranfer window in its history?
They didn't get overcharged for players
The French champions did well to not get overpriced for a player this transfer window when you factor in how much Elliot Anderson, Enzo Fernandez, and Ayyoub Bouaddi went to Man City. If Les Parisiens had opted for a player that had a high price tag, then they would have been under pressure to hit the ground running in a league they haven't played in before. The club did well to not get overcharged for a player, as this is the most inflated the transfer window has ever been following Yan Diomande's move to Real Madrid for a reported £125 million plus £15 million in potential add-ons.
Les Parisiens avoided the temptation of signing megastars
PSG have firmly moved away from their previous model, which was to buy household names and fit them all into a starting 11. During that time, they signed Galácticos such as Kylian Mbappé, Neymar Jr. and Lionel Messi. Signing superstars didn't get the club anywhere between 2018 and 2024. The closest the club came to winning the Champions League was in 2020, when they lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich in the final. They haven't signed a player deemed a superstar since Mbappé departed from the club, as that policy didn't reap any rewards.
They have sold brilliantly in the market
Les Parisiens have sold players such as Bradley Barcola, Gonçalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani for more then what they are worth. This enabled them to strengthen their squad in pivotal areas such as in attack (wingers/ number nines) on players that are better. Ferran Torres showed what he is capable of last season at Barcelona and should have started the World Cup final which he won for Spain. This contrasts to Kolo Muani who flattered to deceive with Tottenham last season and arguably cost France the World Cup in 2022.
