Everton's owners, The Friedkin Group (TFG), are looking for new investors just two years after purchasing the Merseyside club.
TFG purchased Everton back in 2024, paying Farhad Moshiri around £330 million in order to take control of the club.
Everton endured a difficult summer transfer window that saw them lose some of their key players while failing to address important positions. Iliman Ndiaye was the most notable departure for the Toffees, and they start the season with just one right-back, one left-back, and one striker.
There is no doubt the window will go down as a failure for the Toffees. Everton opted to sell striker Beto on the final day of the window and failed in a move to bring in Folarin Balogun as his replacement.
Everton left a lot of their business incredibly late, so although they may have been unfortunate with some of the deals that failed to get over the line, there is no doubt they brought it on themselves.
TFG seeking Everton investment
According to a report from the Financial Times, Everton's billionaire owners are now seeking new investors, and they are working with advisors on a stake sale process.
The process is believed to be at an early stage at the moment, and it could result in new investors purchasing a significant stake in the club. It is still possible that a deal fails to materialise, but TFG are now working with advisors on a potential deal.
Due to the rising valuations in competition in the Premier League, it is very common for teams to now be owned by consortiums rather than individual investors.
Dan Friedkin, the Chair and Chief Executive of TFG, does have a $13 billion fortune, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Back in April last year, Friedkin and his family sold equity in Roundhouse Capital Holdings, which controls Everton.
It's unclear how this is going to look for Everton in the future and whether TFG will sell their full stake or part of it.
Either way, TFG have a lot of answering to do when it comes to Everton's summer transfer window. The Toffees ultimately failed to address key areas while bringing in plenty of money through sales.
David Moyes has minimal senior options to work with for the remainder of the campaign, with any potential injuries going to be a huge disaster for Everton, particularly in the full-back and striker positions.
