Mohamed Salah's new club Trabzonspor finally confirmed the departure of head coach Fatih Tekke - almost a week after he resigned live on television. Salah's side were hammered 4-0 in Hungary by Ferencvaros last Thursday, having lost the play-off first leg at home by a single goal.
The result saw the club drop into the Europa League, and speaking in the immediate aftermath of the game, Fatih Tekke took full responsibility for the loss and revealed live on air that he was quitting.
But Trabzonspor refused to accept his resignation and confirmed he would take charge of their match against Amedspor. However, following a 2-1 defeat to Amedspor on Tuesday night, an agreement was reached that will see Tekke leave the club immediately.
"As a result of the discussions held, we have mutually agreed to part ways with Fatih Tekke in line with Trabzonspor's interests and future-oriented goals," a statement from the club read.
"Over the approximately 18-month period he served, Fatih Tekke added significant value to Trabzonspor.
"In addition to his contributions to the development of the players integrated into our squad during this time, he provided our club with important gains both in sporting and economic terms.
"By bringing the Turkish Cup to our trophy cabinet, he once again inscribed his name in Trabzonspor history.

"At the point we have reached today, we have arrived at a mutual understanding with our coach - who expressed that he could never accept his presence causing any harm to Trabzonspor in any way - that it is inevitable to chart a new roadmap by placing the club's interests above all else.
"We thank our coach for the effort, dedicated work, successes he achieved, and the value he added to our club up to this point.
"We wish Fatih Tekke success in his future career; as a member of the Trabzonspor community, I want to express that we will always remember him with respect for the beautiful emotions he brought to our club and the valuable legacy he left behind."
The development comes as Richarlison could still leave Tottenham as Trabzonspor weigh up a bid for the striker before the Turkish transfer window closes on Friday night.

The Brazilian is free to leave Spurs after the north London club brought in Savio and Omar Marmoush from Manchester City last week, and had been linked with an emotional return to Everton earlier this week.
Salah announced in March that he would bring the curtain down on his illustrious career at Anfield following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.
The forward reached an agreement with the Reds that would see him depart the club on a free transfer, and it came after he launched a tirade against Arne Slot in December.
Salah then delivered a withering assessment of Liverpool’s style of play and called for a return to the "heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear and wins trophies" following the defeat to Aston Villa towards the end of last season.
The 34-year-old departed Anfield having lifted two Premier League titles along with a Champions League, an FA Cup and two Carabao Cups.
