**Arsenal legend Ian Wright says his former club may end up regretting not signing Bradley Barcola.**
The Gunners had shown some interest in the French international, but he ultimately ended up joining Liverpool instead in a deal worth £123m. Speaking on whether the Premier League champions should have pursued the winger, Wright said:
“That is the player Arsenal need\[ed\] to sign. He comes in from a brilliant PSG side, and he’s played with players who are on that level. Now he’s coming into a Liverpool side where he is that superstar and will bring them up there.”
“That’s what we needed. Whether you think Morgan Rogers could have done that, I would have been happy with that. But Barcola was available.”

The club’s strategy this summer was rather strange in terms of which forwards they were prepared to push the boat out, and which they weren’t.
Despite seemingly being willing to shoulder the costs of buying players like Vinicius Jr and Julian Alvarez, they weren’t interested in spending the sums required to land either Barcola or Rogers.
Both players ended up moving clubs for close to £120m, and Vinicius and Alvarez’s asking prices were higher.

With the Gunners sanctioning the sales of both Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli and only bringing in one player, [**Christos Tzolis**](https://goonernews.com/blog/arsenal-news-christos-tzolis-neville/), to replace them, the club have left themselves short on the left flank.
For the time being, it looks like Eberechi Eze will be asked to provide competition for Tzolis, but it’s not an ideal solution. Neither has lightning pace nor the ability to pose a threat one-on-one against opposing fullbacks.
It appears as if the club have decided to keep their money in their pocket until one of their top targets becomes available.
