As per latest transfer news, Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has joined Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan, completing a shock move to the club’s Premier League rival. The Ukraine international will now reunite with head coach Roberto De Zerbi, who previously worked with him at Shakhtar Donetsk.
Mykhailo Mudryk completes Tottenham move
Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Mudryk on loan as they look to strengthen their attacking options. The 25-year-old can play on either wing and is known for his pace, creativity and ability to take on defenders. As reported by Tottenham Hotspur, Mudryk said he was excited to begin training with his new teammates and work with De Zerbi again. He also believes he can contribute in both attack and defence while giving Tottenham fans something to enjoy.
The move gives Mudryk a chance to restart his career after a difficult spell at Chelsea. He joined the Blues from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 but could not break into the starting XI. Mudryk showed flashes of what he could do but only managed 21 goals in 73 appearances for the Blues. His most memorable moment came in October 2023 when he scored against Arsenal and won Chelsea’s Goal of the Month award.
Mudryk’s career was later disrupted after an adverse analytical finding in an anti-doping test in 2024. As reported by Sportstar, he initially received a four-year ban from the Football Association before successfully appealing, with his suspension later reduced following an agreement involving the FA and the World Anti-Doping Agency. He was cleared to return shortly before completing his move to Tottenham.

The arrival of Mudryk also sees him reunite with De Zerbi. The Italian manager worked with the winger during their time at Shakhtar Donetsk. De Zerbi knows Mudryk’s qualities well and believes his pace and one-on-one ability can make a major difference for Tottenham.
The Tottenham head coach said Mudryk has the quality to change games. He also called him an exciting attacking player. In addition, he said the club will help the winger reach his best level. Mudryk enjoyed his best spell at Shakhtar under De Zerbi. During this time, he became a key player for the Ukrainian side. He was also named Shakhtar’s Player of the Year in 2021 and 2022.
The winger also lifted the Ukrainian Super Cup in 2021 and played a part in the club winning the Ukrainian league title in 2022/23. Mudryk’s performances also earned him international recognition. He was named Ukraine’s Footballer of the Year for 2022 and has since collected 28 senior caps and scored three goals for his country.

The move is another major addition to Tottenham’s squad during a busy transfer window. The club have spent heavily as they look to improve their options and compete at the highest level of Premier League football. Tottenham also had an eye on Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye before his move to Manchester City. Mudryk’s arrival therefore gives the club another attacking option who can offer pace and creativity from the wide areas.
The Ukraine international will now hope to make a strong impression in north London after a difficult period at Chelsea. Tottenham have also signed Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo shortly before the transfer deadline, adding further strength to their squad.
For Mudryk, the loan move is a chance to play regularly, regain confidence and show his quality. He became one of Europe’s most exciting young attackers at Shakhtar. With De Zerbi already familiar with his game, Tottenham will hope he can settle in quickly. The club will also want him to become an important player during the season.
