Romain Molina shared a YouTube video on Wednesday evening that shared all the nitty-gritty details of the transfer debacle involving AS Monaco, Folarin Balogun and Lamine Camara.
As we know by now, Balogun was supposed to join Everton, but decided against it at the last minute.
By this stage, Monaco had already pulled the plug on a deal to sign Camara, which has now opened the door for the Reds to sign the 22-year-old midfielder in the January transfer window.
According to Ben Jacobs, Liverpool told Camara to wait for them until 2027 if he did not get his move to Stamford Bridge. As it turns out, this exactly transpired and now the Reds could make Chelsea’s misfortune their fortune.
Jacobs reported: “Liverpool Football Club made a call this evening and more than one to say to the camp of Lamine Camara to WAIT, to say to Monaco to WAIT, because Liverpool don’t want Camara now [this summer].
“They never explored it. Alexis Mac Allister is still at the club but my understanding is that Liverpool said to Monaco wait, Liverpool said to Camara WAIT. Liverpool didn’t interfere in the deal relating to Chelsea. We are saying all Liverpool did was tell Monaco and Lamine Camara to wait, if you don’t get your move… we will be back potentially in 2027.”

An agent went to Liverpool’s offices in London to offer them Lamine Camara
Now, according to Romain Molina, Liverpool were contacted directly to arrange a move to sign Camara. An agent reportedly visited them in London to discuss the Senegal international moving to Anfield, but as we know, this never materialised.

On Wednesday morning, the Athletic’s James Pearce reported that had Liverpool sold Alexis Mac Allister, then Camara would have been his replacement.
Monaco wanted €70m for Camara all summer, but were willing to accept €55m for the 22-year-0ld from Chelsea with 90 minutes to go until the deadline on Tuesday at 11 pm.
It remains to be seen if that same discount will be available in Janaury, but given that Monaco are in financial trouble, they need this transfer to avoid sanctions.
