Andoni Iraola says he is fully satisfied with Liverpool's summer business and insists it is now his job to get the best out of the squad he has assembled.
Liverpool posted the highest net spend of any Premier League club this summer once the £60 million move for centre-back Jérémy Jacquet is factored in, a deal agreed back in January but only completed this summer.
The headline arrival was the £123 million capture of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, with the winger set to be available when Iraola's side travel to Ipswich Town on Friday.
Liverpool also brought in Víctor Muñoz from Osasuna for £34.5 million and added defensive cover in the form of Ronald Araújo, who joined on loan from Barcelona. The club opted against bringing in fresh faces at right-back or in central midfield, a call Iraola defended when asked about the scale of his summer business.
"Do I want more signings? In the end, the club has decided those signings we have done are the ones that will improve our team, improve the positions," Iraola said.
> "There were other options that we decided not to take for different reasons, sometimes sporting or economical. It didn't make sense in the market for those moves.
"But I'm happy now. I have a lot of quality in the team. Now it is the moment is for me and the players to develop what we have."
Liverpool chose not to replace Curtis Jones, who left for Inter Milan in a £30 million deal after 49 appearances last season. That leaves Iraola with four senior central-midfield options in Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Wataru Endo, plus academy prospect Trey Nyoni.
"In midfield we have good numbers," Iraola said. "Now it's a matter of getting the right calls from myself. I'm finding now the best combinations, and we are going through a period now where we will play a lot of games and we'll have a chance to see the options we have and the combinations we have. It's a matter of coaching."
Iraola also addressed Manchester City's rejected £80 million bid for Cody Gakpo, saying he was "glad to keep Cody Gakpo because he is a valuable player." The Dutchman has a goal and an assist from Liverpool's opening two league games, both of which ended in draws, as Iraola's side prepare for a testing run of fixtures.
The manager, who took over at Anfield this summer, is yet to taste a league win in his opening two matches but was adamant that his squad has the depth and balance needed to cope with a heavy fixture schedule once his first-choice combinations are established.
