Transfer deadline day proved to be fairly quiet for Liverpool, although the Reds were offered a seven-figure sum for one of their brightest academy prospects before the window closed

Liverpool rejected a seven-figure offer for Keyrol Figueroa before the transfer window slammed shut, Liverpool.com understands.
The Honduran striker made the switch to Port Vale in League Two before the deadline as he looks for first-team minutes, having struggled to break into Andoni Iraola's set-up at Anfield. Figueroa played with the Reds during pre-season and hoped to make an impression ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
However, head coach Iraola greenlit a move away for the player and Liverpool chose the Valiants in English football's fourth tier. Liverpool.com understands multiple clubs had been chasing the 20-year-old forward and that money had been put on the table for a permanent move by one unnamed club. But the Reds knocked back the approach.
It is believed they feel the frontman has a big future ahead of him and a loan was preferred rather than allowing the player to move on a permanent switch.
It is understood that interest in Figueroa came from Ligue 2 in France, Major League Soccer, and Portugal. Figueroa is yet to play in his first professional game for Liverpool, having turned out 26 times in Premier League 2, scoring 12 goals.
He has turned out for his nation, Honduras, already in a 2-0 defeat to World Cup finalists Argentina back in June. His first cap was awarded after he switched allegiances from the USA, having represented them through their younger age groups.

He was also named in the matchday squad for Liverpool’s senior team’s Carabao Cup fourth-round tie against Crystal Palace in October of last year.
Port Vale, meanwhile, suffered relegation last term but Figueroa will be desperate to get minutes under his belt as well as adding his name to the score sheet as often as possible to ensure he remains on Iraola's mind upon his return next summer.
At his parent club Figueroa had hoped to be given a crack but he has found himself behind the likes of Jayden Danns and Will Wright in the pecking order. Josh Sonni-Lambie has also been brought through to the under-21s set up from the Under-18s which would also have meant more competition for places.
Figueroa - son of former Wigan Athletic and Hull City left back Maynor - was welcomed to Vale Park by his new manager, Jon Brady, who laid out all the attributes the loanee has that he feels can benefit his side.
"Keyrol comes from an outstanding football environment at Liverpool and has a really exciting attacking profile," the boss said. "He’s quick, direct and dynamic, with a real desire to threaten defenders and play on the front foot.
“He has the strength and technical ability to receive the ball under pressure and link play, while also having the pace and athleticism to run in behind, attack space and cause problems with his movement.

“There’s an unpredictability to him in attacking areas which I feel is something we need and will add another dimension to our team.
“His goalscoring record at PL2 level speaks for itself, particularly in terms of his goals-per-game return, but he’s still a young player with plenty of development ahead of him.
“We’re really excited to work with Keyrol, help him continue that development and give him the freedom to express the qualities he has.”
