Arturo Ruiz has been working against the clock to get his new squad ready for the WSL season.
And then out running in the evening to get to know his new home city.
Ruiz revealed how he used his first week as head coach of Albion’s WSL team ahead of a new season which kicks off versus Arsenal at Crawley on Sunday (midday).
He was appointed only last Friday as successor to Dario Vidosic.
But he expects his side to be as ready – and as solid – as they can be for a huge opening-day test.
Ruiz told The Argus: “We played two (friendly) games and they were very good. It helped me a lot to watch the squad.
“Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, we have been coaching.
“And I have had individual meetings, group meetings and, above everything, collective meetings and three sessions on the game.
“They have all gone very well. A lot of clarity. A lot of synergy and good conversations with players, which is very important at the beginning.
“I think they have received the work very well.
“I can completely say that I am very happy with the performance and the work they have done.
“I think we are going to be on Sunday very solid thanks to that work, thanks to the players and their pre-disposition and all the work that my staff is doing.”
Ruiz has settled in as quickly as he can after arrival from Madrid.
He said: “I’m staying in Brighton. I have been running all around the city at night.
“I am Spanish so I have dinner late so I have time to do some sport in the evening.
“I am enjoying the city so much but obviously 100% focussed on work and on Sunday’s game.”
