Chelsea have announced the capture of Corinthians full-back Denner, who has penned a contract until 2034. The 18-year-old left-sided defender has signed to the Cobham Next Gen squad, the new name for the club’s Under-21 and Under-19 sides under head coach Harry Hudson.
The protracted transfer was first confirmed in early 2025, when the Blues struck a deal with the São Paulo club for a fee believed to be in the region of €10m, plus performance-based add-ons. FIFA rules on the international transfer of minors prevented any move until the defender turned 18 in February this year. Previous reports had pointed to an agreement running until 2032, but the official statement from the club is far more extensive.
The full name of Denner is Denner Alves Evangelista Pereira. He joined his hometown club’s youth sector at the age of 13 and progressed through the ranks. He was promoted to the Under-20 set-up at the age of 16 and later impressed in the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior as Corinthians finished as runners-up. The teenage ace scored three goals and notched two assists during that tournament, including the first goal in the final against São Paulo. He played 23 times for the Under-20 side, scoring four goals and providing one assist.
He is also a Brazil youth international and was part of the Under-17 side that won the South American Championship in 2025. Chelsea took charge of the full-back’s treatment last season, with a knee op in London after a meniscus issue and overseeing his rehab at Cobham.
Denner joins Chelsea as the club bolsters its growing Brazilian group
The signing continues a recruitment doctrine which has seen the west London club develop an increasingly overt Brazilian presence. There are now 17 players from the country to have made senior competitive appearances for Chelsea, a list that includes Thiago Silva, Willian, Andrey Santos, and Oscar. Joao Pedro and Estevao Willian are the modern-day duo who are regular fixtures in the first-team environment.
Since his arrival from Palmeiras, Estevao’s journey has been indicative of the potential dividends that such an investment in South American youth can yield. The winger made himself a part of Chelsea folklore in his first season by becoming the club’s youngest scorer in the Premier League with a dramatic late winner against Liverpool. Meanwhile, Andrey Santos returned from a successful loan spell at Strasbourg and gradually became a reliable presence in the heart of the midfield before being sold to Manchester United.
The integration of Denner himself is expected to be handled with a bit more caution than would be necessary for immediate first-team exposure. Reports from Brazil have suggested the teenager will not be fast-tracked, with the club concentrating on acclimatising to English football, Cobham’s methodology, and the physicality of the European game. Whether he will first play for the Under-19s or Under-21s in the Cobham Next Gen structure this season remains to be seen.
