Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer rang up “nearly $50 million” in costs related to the investigation that prompted his suspension from the National Basketball Association, according to his attorney.
The NBA hit Ballmer with one of the harshest punishments in its history when it removed five first-round draft picks from the Clippers and suspended Ballmer for a year. The discipline, which also includes a $30 million fine, followed a report by Wachtell Lipton Rosen & Katz published on Sept. 2 that found the team had run afoul of salary cap rules.
