Liverpool have announced the signing of a new striker days after the summer 2026 transfer deadline passed. The Reds were perhaps expecting a busier window than the one they had, with Victor Munoz, Jeremy Jacquet, and Bradley Barcola the only additions to the club's first-team squad.
Defence and midfield have been highlighted as an issue for Liverpool, but ultimately, after splashing £123million on Mohamed Salah replacement Barcola, they appeared to have run out of money. Whether it proves an issue this season remains to be seen, but the Merseysiders have announced a new addition, who is set to join the club permanently in January 2026.

The man in question is Djylian N'Guessan, who has been unveiled as a new Liverpool player following a move from French side Saint-Etienne. An announcement from the six-time European champions read: "We have agreed a deal to sign Djylian N'Guessan from Saint-Etienne, with the French forward set to officially join the club on a permanent transfer in January. The 18-year-old will now spend the rest of the 2026-27 season on loan at Ligue 1 side Stade Brestois."
N'Guessan is a youth international for France, with The Athletic reporting the fee is in the region of £4.3million fixed, while there is a sell-on clause inserted into his contract. He underwent a medical with Liverpool earlier this week, and his loan move to Brest was announced by the French side before the deadline shut.
It's believed a delay in the announcement came because of Premier League rules on clubs loaning players to overseas teams, and given Liverpool's quota was full, a workaround was needed before they could proceed.
