Premier League sides have now finalised their 25-man squads ahead of the new Champions League season. Arsenal, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United have all secured their places in the league phase for the upcoming campaign. The Gunners were England's standout performers last year, reaching the final only to fall short on penalties against Paris Saint-Germain, who lifted the iconic trophy for the second year running.
Liverpool have caused surprise with their 25-man selection, which excludes both Federico Chiesa and Wataru Endo. The decision represents yet another setback for Chiesa, who has suffered a nightmare spell since his switch to Anfield from Juventus in summer 2024.
Chiesa is presently ruled out through injury but is anticipated to resume training later this month. He was previously left out of the Reds' Champions League squad last term by Arne Slot, though he was granted a second chance following Giovanni Leoni's serious knee injury.
The young defender, who continues his rehabilitation, has been named by Liverpool alongside fellow injured players Conor Bradley and Hugo Ekitike.
For Arsenal, the notable development is the selection of William Saliba despite the Frenchman's current absence with a back problem. The Gunners issued a statement in late July confirming that Saliba would follow a "managed recovery programme" instead of going under the knife, although reports indicated the centre-back would still be absent for a considerable spell.
Saliba's selection would seem to suggest that Arsenal, at minimum, hold out hope he might feature in some capacity during the opening stages of this year's competition. New arrivals Ezri Konsa, Bruno Guimaraes and Christos Tzolis have all been named.

There are no significant surprise exclusions or additions amongst the other Premier League sides taking part in the competition.
Manchester United have named their three major summer acquisitions, Carlos Baleba, Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, in their squad as they make their return to Champions League action.
