Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal are among the Premier League teams to have named their 25-man Champions League squads for the coming season. They, along with Manchester City and Aston Villa, qualified for the league phase of the European competition, with the Gunners especially looking to go one step further than their final run last time out.
The biggest surprise of Friday morning's announcements came at Anfield, where Andoni Iraola left both Federico Chiesa and Wataru Endo out of his squad. Chiesa has endured a nightmare spell on Merseyside since joining from Juventus two years ago, but failed to secure an exit at the English transfer deadline.
Chiesa is currently ruled out with an injury but is expected to resume training later this month. He was previously left out of the Reds' Champions League squad last term by Arne Slot, though he was granted a second chance following Giovanni Leoni's serious knee injury.
The young defender, who continues his rehabilitation, has been named by Liverpool alongside fellow injured players Conor Bradley and Hugo Ekitike.

For Arsenal, the notable development is the selection of William Saliba despite the Frenchman's current absence with a back problem. The Gunners issued a statement in late July confirming that Saliba would follow a "managed recovery programme" instead of going under the knife, although reports indicated the centre-back would still be absent for a considerable spell.
Saliba's selection would seem to suggest that Arsenal, at minimum, hold out hope he might feature in some capacity during the opening stages of this year's competition. New arrivals Ezri Konsa, Bruno Guimaraes and Christos Tzolis have all been included.

There are no significant surprise exclusions or additions amongst the other Premier League sides taking part in the competition.
Manchester United have named their three major summer acquisitions, Carlos Baleba, Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, in their squad as they make their return to Champions League action.
