Leicester City hero Jamie Vardy could be set for a surprise Premier League return with Everton.

According to The Sun the Toffees are considering a shock move to sign the free agent after being left with only one senior striker.

Everton sold Beto on deadline day and thought they would replace him with Folarin Balogun, only for a deal with Monaco to collapse after the window closed. They also had a last-gasp bid to sign Joshua Zirkzee rebuffed by Manchester United.

That left David Moyes able to name only 19 senior players in his Premier League squad, which has a limit of 25, and with Thierno Barry as his only available striker.

The Hill Dickinson Stadium outfit can still sign free agents, which is where Vardy comes in after he left Cremonese after just one season.

Prior to that he spent 13 years at City and scored 200 goals in 500 appearances. The Sun also reckon he rejected the chance to play for Wrexham.

He was also claimed to be of interest to West Ham.
