Liverpool have announced the signing of Djylian N'Guessan from Saint-Etienne. The youngster's move was secured this morning, despite the transfer window slamming shut on September 1.
At the age of 18 years old, he is considered to be a bright prospect in French football, having already racked up 13 senior appearances for the Ligue 1 side. He will officially move to the Reds in January.
However, he is going to spend the rest of the 2026-27 campaign on loan at Stade Brestois. It's understood Liverpool will pay a guaranteed fee of around £4.3m while also including a sell-on clause.
N'Guessan appeared at the 2025 Under-20 World Cup. He made seven appearances for the French, who finished fourth after losing to Colombia in the third place play-off.
In the U17 European Championship last summer, he earned a place in the competition's Team of the Tournament, after scoring four goals for his country. In total, he boasts 11 goals in 11 games for France's U17s side.
In January, it's expected Liverpool will decide to either allow him to stay at Brest or bring him to Anfield. He is not the only young talent to secure a late move to the Reds.
France's forward #20 Djylian N'Guessan takes the final penalty kick, which is saved by Morocco's goalkeeper #16 Abdelhakim Mesbahi, resulting in France's defeat in the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup semi-final football match between Morocco and France at the Elias Figueroa Stadium in Valparaiso, Chile on October 15, 2025

Andoni Iraola's side have also purchased young goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans from Gank. The 18-year-old is expected to cost a small feet at first, but once potential bonuses are added, it's understood the package as a whole could cost as much as £30m.
He signed a six-year contract at Anfield, suggesting he may be seen by the Merseysiders as the long-term replacement of veteran goalkeeping star Alisson Becker.
They are the final signings of a rollercoaster transfer window for the Reds.
