Conor Coady is back in familiar surroundings at Liverpool as he considers the next stage of his career after leaving Wrexham.
The defender came through Liverpool academy and spent his formative years at the club, representing the Reds between the ages of six and 20.

He made his senior debut in November 2012 and went on to make two first-team appearances before leaving Anfield in 2014.
Coady subsequently built his career away from Merseyside, including spells with Huddersfield Town and Wolverhampton Wanderers, before later playing for Everton, Leicester City and Wrexham.
His return to Liverpool now comes at a different point in his career, with the 33-year-old weighing up his next move after becoming a free agent.
According to BBC Sport Wales, Coady is currently working with Liverpool’s Under-21s following his departure from Wrexham, while he takes his time over finding his next club.
Coady left Wrexham by mutual consent at the start of September after the two parties agreed to terminate his contract.
He had joined the Welsh club from Leicester City in 2025 but made only six appearances before spending the second half of last season on loan at Charlton Athletic.
The former England international made 12 appearances for Charlton during his loan spell before returning to Wrexham in the summer.
However, he did not feature in the club’s matchday squads at the beginning of the 2026-27 campaign, leading to his eventual departure.
Rather than immediately committing to another club, Coady has returned to the Liverpool academy environment. He is doing some coaching with the Under-21s while also keeping himself involved and fit as he considers his options.
Coady explained that the opportunity has given him the chance to learn from the coaching staff while remaining close to the playing side of the game. He has also been able to join in with training when the Under-21s require additional numbers.
The Liverpool academy graduate has made clear that he is not prepared to rush his next decision.
Speaking about his situation, Coady said: “I’m not massively in a rush because I want to make sure it’s right.”
Coady is also in contact with his agent about potential opportunities, but his immediate focus is on making the most of his time back at Liverpool.
The arrangement allows him to stay active in football while gaining further exposure to coaching.
His return also gives Coady an opportunity to reconnect with the Academy where his professional career began.
He made his senior debut against Anzhi Makhachkala in the Europa League in November 2012 and later made his Premier League debut as a substitute against Fulham in May 2013.
Coady left Liverpool for Huddersfield Town in 2014 after making two senior appearances for the club. Liverpool confirmed at the time that he had spent the previous season on loan at Sheffield United, where he gained further first-team experience.
More than a decade later, Coady is therefore back at the club that developed him, albeit in a different capacity.
For now, he is using the opportunity to work with Liverpool’s Under-21s while taking his time over what comes next in his playing career.
