Liverpool goalkeeper Harvey Davies is one of three players effectively in limbo after being left out of the Premier League and Champions League squads.
Davies, who spent pre-season with Andoni Iraola‘s squad, will not be eligible to feature in either the Premier League or Champions League this season.
Liverpool submitted their 25-man lists for both competitions this week and the Scouser did not feature on either despite qualifying as homegrown and club-trained.
Vitezslav Jaros, who is currently sidelined with a serious knee injury, was one of four senior goalkeepers registered instead.
It is little surprise that Davies is considered out of the first-team picture, but having turned 23 on Thursday his omission casts a worrying cloud over his current situation.
What next for Harvey Davies?

He is still able to play for the U21s as an over-age goalkeeper and started in the opening game of the season against Everton – only to be sent off late on.
But with Bailey Hall available and the priority as No. 1 for Rob Page’s side, it remains to be seen how often Davies will feature.
The likelihood is that he will mostly be involved in training, with both the first team and U21s, before a decision is made on his future in January.
It is a stark contrast to a month ago when The Athletic‘s Gregg Evans reported that Davies would sign a new contract and be seen as fourth-choice goalkeeper in the first half of the season.
Davies could still extend his deal with his boyhood club, particularly if he is to head out on loan in January, but he will be under no uncertain terms when it comes to his status at the club.
Kaide Gordon also cut from Liverpool squad

The same applies to Kaide Gordon, who would have needed to be registered as a senior player in the Premier League and Champions League ahead of his 22nd birthday next month.
Gordon has returned to full training with the U21s after tearing his meniscus in December but will not be part of the senior squad even in emergency.
A move away from Liverpool had been anticipated but no transfer developed and he will instead stay with Page’s U21s before likely leaving either mid-season or next summer as a free agent.

Left-back Owen Beck was also left out of both senior squads, though his situation is slightly different as he is still sidelined with a long-term hamstring injury.
However, Beck is now 24 and his future clearly lies away from Anfield when he is able to recover and prove his fitness.
Isaac Mabaya, a right-back who will turn 22 later this month, was the surprise inclusion as a homegrown and club-trained player in the Premier League and Champions League.
