Chelsea legend John Terry enjoyed plenty of fine victories against Arsenal during his career, and believes the current squad have a real chance at getting a result against the Gunners on Sunday.
The Blues have only beaten Arsenal once since 2019 in the Premier League, and have seen their London rivals emerge as the clear best side in the country.
However, there is confidence about what Chelsea have been building under Xabi Alonso, and after a perfect start to the season now look ahead to their first major test of the campaign.
John Terry changes his prediction for Chelsea vs Arsenal
Terry admitted that before the season began he was doubtful that the Blues could get a result, however after their transfer window and new signings believes they have a chance in this fixture.
He said on TikTok: “This is the big test for us. Before the signings we’ve made, I’m looking at this like ‘that’s tough, we probably get beat away from home. I’m in the complete opposite corner now, I’m not saying we’ll go and win the game, but I would be very confident as a player going ‘yeah, I think we’ve got a chance today.”
“I think the emphasis is actually on them [Arsenal]. I love what I’m seeing going forwards from us. We’ve got goals in our team.
“Certainly in this game, we’re gonna need to be better defensively, because they’ve shown that they’ve got goals in their side as well, and if they do get that first goal they’re capable of sitting back and frustrating us.”

Chelsea sweating on injuries ahead of Arsenal clash
Following the deadline day exit of Enzo Fernandez, Chelsea’s midfield options are limited for at least the first half of the season.
There will be a lot of pressure on Moises Caicedo to deliver, however he is an injury doubt for this huge game after coming off against Brighton last time out.
If he is not fit, it is expected to be a midfield duo of Reece James and Romeo Lavia at the Emirates, with both players having a prolonged injury history at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues will also be hoping new signing Marco Palestra is fit enough to make his first matchday squad of the campaign, after impressing during pre-season.
