Federico Chiesa’s struggles at Liverpool have continued. The player has been excluded from their Champions League squad and this has raised eyebrows in Italy.

January transfer seen as exit route

While the Spaniard hasn’t explained the choice, Chiesa’s struggles with a muscle injury could be a reason. The newspaper note this has been giving him trouble and was a reason he didn’t play in pre-season. There is a chance he returns to action after September.
Secondly, the choice could be purely down to the pecking order. Bradley Barcola’s arrival has pushed him down in the squad list, with Cody Gakpo also having stayed at Liverpool. Victor Munoz has started to find form too.
The newspaper note that this can now lead to a January exit for the winger, when he can finally decide to move on.

The 28-year-old has shown little to no intention of actively securing a Liverpool exit. Even if he isn’t a part of their plans, the player has stayed, which has also impacted his career with the national team.
When he actively pushes for a transfer will be key. It will be a decisive move in his career and will determine if he can get back to his previous level or not.
