Fabian Hurzeler has hinted at when Yankuba Minteh could leave Brighton following Liverpool’s failed attempt to sign the Gambian international in the recently concluded transfer window.
Liverpool’s pursuit of Yankuba Minteh ended in frustration. The Reds tabled two separate bids for the Brighton winger before the transfer window closed, and both were turned down.

Their opening offer of £50m was rejected outright, prompting Andoni Iraola’s side to return with an improved £60m proposal. That, too, failed to meet Brighton’s valuation.
Brighton were understood to be holding out for a fee closer to £70m for the 22-year-old, a figure Liverpool were unwilling to match before deadline day passed.
Minteh stayed on the south coast, but Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has now addressed his future directly.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Leeds United at the Amex Stadium, Hurzeler was asked about Liverpool’s interest and whether Minteh could still leave in a future window.
“If the whole team is successful and the individual shines then Yankuba will get a lot of attention again and he can then maybe fulfil his dream in the next transfer window,” Hurzeler said.
The German coach also insisted Minteh remains fully focused on Brighton despite the collapsed move, describing the winger as “definitely” committed to the club.
Minteh joined Brighton from Newcastle United in 2024 for £30m. He has gone on to score 10 goals and provide nine assists in 73 appearances for the Seagulls.
Brighton did not leave the transfer window empty-handed financially. Carlos Baleba’s departure to Manchester United, in a deal worth £70m, brought significant funds into the club.
That money was partly reinvested on deadline day, with Brighton completing a £15.5m move for Spanish midfielder Chema Andres from Stuttgart.
The 21-year-old made 41 appearances for Stuttgart last season after arriving from Real Madrid in 2025.
