Mohamed Salah has responded to Jurgen Klopp and Steven Gerrard, and revealed that he has stayed in touch with the pair after leaving Liverpool.

Salah brought the curtain down on his nine-year spell at Anfield earlier this summer, with the winger subsequently going on to join Turkish side Trabzonspor after agreeing to waive the final year of his contract on Merseyside.

The Egyptian’s departure from the Reds saw a number of tributes being paid by Liverpool stars past and present, including Klopp and Gerrard, both of whom developed a close bond as Salah wrote his name into the club’s history books.

"Wow. Time flies. You leave with a smile on your face, and you leave loved by so many people," Klopp said in a video message.

"The best thing you can do is to work hard and put everything in, so that when we meet in the future — in five, 10, 15, 20 years — we look back and share the best memories of our lives."

In a new interview with Trabzonspor, Salah was asked about the tributes paid to him upon his Liverpool exit.

Jurgen Klopp, Manager of Liverpool, embraces Mohamed Salah of Liverpool as he leaves the field after being substituted during the Emirates FA Cup Quarter Final between Manchester United and Liverpool FC at Old Trafford on March 17, 2024 in Manchester, England.

"Well, it makes me feel good that you play against players and you've been recognized by the opponent,” Salah said. “So I think it's something that makes me feel very good and proud of what I achieved and also other big names that you mentioned now.

"But, you know, I know some of them very closely that I work with Jurgen and also Stevie was a person that we talk from time to time and meet from time to time. So it's something that makes me feel good about what I've done in my career and keep doing.”

Speaking about his relationship with Salah back in April, Gerrard revealed: "He texts me every now and again or I text him now and again, more if I am going somewhere with Leo (Gerrard's son) just so Leo can see him.”

Salah has endured a difficult start to life at his new club. Although he has scored three goals in his first five games, Trabzonspor has won just one of those and lost three, with manager Fatih Tekke resigning after his side failed to qualify for the Europa League.

Salah though insists he still has the motivation to take on the new challenge facing him in Turkiye. Asked what his ambitions were, he responded: "It's quite difficult to say one, but I think through young age I knew that without motivation you will not succeed. So I always try to find a motive for me to keep going. So that's why I'm here now.

"I won many things in my career and I want a new challenge. So that's why I'm here. I'm really hoping that we can win something special, especially in Europe and hopefully the league as well."
