Everton have been credited with interest in a Sheffield Wednesday-linked forward
Everton are reportedly considering a shock move for Sheffield Wednesday-linked marksman Jamie Vardy.
The 39-year-old, a Leicester City legend and former England international, is currently a free agent following the expiry of his contract at Serie A outfit Cremonese.
He has been the subject of interest from League One promotion hopefuls Wednesday, who released the boyhood Owls fan from their academy as a teenager.

Vardy has also been linked with West Ham United, Wrexham and São Paulo, and recent reports indicated he would decide on his next club after the closure of the transfer window.
With the window now shut, fans have been left to wonder where the iconic frontman will end up.

Everton linked with Jamie Vardy
According to The Sun, Premier League outfit Everton are weighing up a free transfer swoop for Vardy.
The Toffees are light at the top end of the pitch following the sale of Beto but only free agents are currently available to the Merseyside club.
They saw a late move for Monaco’s Folarin Balogun collapsed and are also said to have seen an offer for Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee rejected.
Thierno Barry is therefore the only out-and-out senior forward at the disposal of Everton boss David Moyes.

Jamie Vardy’s future
The prospect of a Premier League return could prove appealing to Vardy, but so too could an emotional Wednesday homecoming.
Last month, Wednesday owner David Storch told talKSPORT: “At some point, I’ll be able to tell a story. This might not be the right time. But yeah, Jamie is somebody we would like to have in our club.
“Let’s just say he’d be someone we’d be thrilled to have on the club, and unfortunately we do have these restrictions. We’re trying to figure out how to get around the restrictions to put something in front of Jamie that would make sense for him.”
