Mohamed Salah has disclosed that Dominik Szoboszlai was amongst his former Liverpool colleagues left stunned by the welcome he received from Trabzonspor fans.
Salah announced in March that he would draw the curtain on his remarkable stint at Anfield at the end of the 2025/26 campaign. The 34-year-old left Liverpool having secured two Premier League crowns, a Champions League trophy, an FA Cup and two Carabao Cups.
And following months of conjecture, Salah's next club was ultimately confirmed in August when he agreed terms with Trabzonspor. Once a deal was finalized, thousands assembled to greet him at Trabzon Airport before a formal unveiling ceremony was held at Papara Park.
Salah himself couldn't conceal his amazement at the masses who turned out to welcome him at the airport, with numerous former Liverpool colleagues getting in touch to express similar sentiments, reports the Liverpool Echo.
"I looked up the best places in the city," the attacker told Futbol Arena when questioned about his decision to join Trabzonspor. He was asked 'What kind of research did you do after hanging up the phone?'
"I've played for clubs where football is deeply ingrained in the culture. I know that being in a city where people are passionate about football is different from being in the capital or elsewhere.

"I was instantly excited when I heard about Trabzonspor's interest. Once I arrived, I also looked into various locations and the best food available.
"After the reception at the airport and the stadium, the next day my Liverpool teammates called me. Szoboszlai and I are still talking. They said they'd never seen anything like it before."
Speaking publicly for the first time since arriving in Turkey, Salah expressed his immense pleasure at signing for Trabzonspor.

He said: "I am extremely happy to be in this amazing atmosphere I don't recall ever seeing anything like this before, and words fail to describe how happy I am.
"There are 25,000 people here, this is unbelievable, I have never seen anything like this.
"I have achieved success everywhere, and I want to achieve success with Trabzonspor too, in the league and at the European level."
