After spending the entire 2025-26 season away from basketball, three-time NBA All-Star Ben Simmons is returning to the league.
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Simmons has agreed to a one-year, $3.5 million deal with the Sacramento Kings.
Simmons looked 'fantastic' during Kings' workouts
Charania added that Simmons traveled to visit the Kings in Sacramento on Monday, undergoing in-depth medical exams, an on-court workout, and meetings with coach Doug Christie and other staffers.
By all accounts from both the Kings and Team Australia officials, with whom Simmons participated in a players-only minicamp last month, the 30-year-old has looked and felt strong health-wise.
According to earlier reports in late August, the Kings held a workout for Simmons ahead of his potential NBA comeback, where he looked 'fantastic' and ready for his return to the floor.
Last played in NBA with Clippers
Simmons has not appeared in an NBA game since the 2024-25 season, when he split time between the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers.
He finished that season averaging 5.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.6 assists in 22.0 minutes across 51 regular-season games, including 24 starts.
After joining the Clippers, Simmons appeared in 18 regular-season games and averaged 2.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 16.4 minutes per contest.
He also featured sparingly in the playoffs, including seven minutes in Game 4 of the Clippers' first-round series against the Denver Nuggets.
The former All-NBA star now enters his eighth season in the league.
