Paul George hasn't played a game with the Boston Celtics yet, but he's already making his presence felt.
In an interview with Celtics.com's Taylor Snow, Celtics forward Jordan Walsh revealed that he's been picking the nine-time All-Star's brain ahead of their first season as teammates.
Walsh said the two have spent time together and have plans to work out when they're both in Boston.
“I got to meet with PG for a while in L.A.,” Walsh said. “And I’ve texted with him a couple times saying, ‘Hey, when you get to Boston, let’s get a workout in. There are some things that I want to learn, especially now that I’m adding so many things to my game. Like I want to add a mid-range pull-up, and you’re really good at that. So like, help me to get there.’
“And so just those conversations and doing the work together, that’s something huge that he brings to the team as a vet presence.”
Jayson Tatum shared a video of the L.A. workout Walsh mentioned. Mike Conley, Peyton Pritchard, Sam Hauser and Derrick White were also there.
MORE: Why Paul George Becomes Easier for Celtics to Trade This Week
George is an ideal player for Walsh and others on Boston's roster to learn from.
He joins the Celtics with 16 years under his belt, and he's spent much of that time as one of the NBA's best forwards. In addition to his nine All-Star selections, George has earned six All-NBA selections, four All-Defensive selections and the Most Improved Player award, and he was an MVP and Defensive Player of the Year finalist in the 2018-19 season.
At age 36, George remains a valuable two-way player.
Not that anyone should expect Walsh to become George 2.0, but there is plenty he can pick up from George. Specifically, Walsh wants to be able to create his own shot to be "a threat at all times."
Having George around could prove to be a valuable resource as he works toward becoming a more complete offensive player.
