Offensive guard Shaq Mason has been facing potential discipline from the NFL since his arrest on criminal charges in August 2025. With the season about to begin, reports indicate that Mason is now free to sign with any team in the league.
The 33-year-old offensive lineman was informed by the NFLPA that he will not be disciplined by the league whatsoever, according to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network. Mason is now officially a free agent and can sign with any organization that offers him a contract.
“Veteran G Shaq Mason has been informed by the NFLPA he will not be disciplined by the NFL, and the investigation into his legal matters from 2025 has been closed, per his agent Deryk Gilmore,” Garafolo reported. Mason is free to sign with and play for a team immediately.”
It's said that all charges the 10-year veteran was facing were dropped back in April 2026, per Garafolo. That likely played a key part in the NFL's decision not to discipline the former fourth-round pick.
“Mason's attorney Worrick Robinson says all charges against Mason from an August 2025 arrest were dropped in April,” Garafolo said on X.
Shaq Mason was allegedly involved in a domestic incident in August 2025. He was arrested on four charges, including aggravated assault, aggravated burglary, harassment, and driving on a suspended license. Mason did not play in the 2025-26 season while dealing with his legal issues.
Mason has been a consistent starter in the NFL since entering the league in 2015. He's played 152 career games, with 147 starts. Any team in need of an interior offensive lineman with experience certainly could come knocking on Mason's door with a contract offer right before the start of the new campaign.
